Christiaan is an engagement manager at Cenfri and has extensive data and quantitative analytics experience, particularly with FinScope. He joined Cenfri as a researcher in June 2012, and has since been involved in diverse projects ranging from research on the informality of microinsurance in South Africa (2012) to exploring opportunities for financial inclusion in Nigeria (Nigeria Access to Finance Survey 2012) commissioned by EFInA. He was part of the team that conducted the MAP Myanmar diagnostic during 2013, where the team developed a new analytical framework including target markets, and captured the inter-relationships between the usage of credit, savings, insurance and payments. In addition, he was part of the project management team for a market update of the South African credit insurance market (2013), and was part of a team that conducted the Programme Completion Review for the DFID Nigeria advocacy programme ENABLE, as well as a cross-country review of risks, costs and incentives inherent in FSD programmes in Africa in 2014.

 

Before joining Cenfri, Christiaan worked as a credit risk analyst at a leading South African catalogue marketing company operating throughout Southern Africa, where he was involved with various aspects of retail credit risk management.

 

Christiaan holds a master's in economics, BComm honours in economics and bachelor degree in management sciences (University of Stellenbosch, South Africa).
