Change Broker, Cape Town (open)

Cenfri is looking for a Change Broker who can support directors in connecting key decision makers with our research and improving the extent to which our insights result in impact. Our research covers a range of content areas, including payments systems, remittances, AML/CFT, insurance, health financing, capital markets, financial inclusion, technology and behaviour. The initial anchor programme for the role will have a substantial insurance market focus. You will take ownership of stakeholder engagement, influence strategy design and implementation, programme coordination between partners and client reporting in collaboration with the research, knowledge management and M&E teams. To best engage and connect with stakeholders, the role will require domestic and global travel to explore any number of the financial inclusion challenges we are tackling.

 

This role also requires a deep interest in, and understanding of, Cenfri’s research and then acting as a bridge between our research team and our stakeholders to improve the impact of our research, but also to inform our research questions based on our stakeholder needs. The successful candidate will be a core part of the new business development process within Cenfri. As a senior team member, you’ll actively contribute to and shape Cenfri’s independent research objectives, operations and strategy in pursuit of impact.

Qualifications

You have:

  • At least five years’ experience working in financial services, financial inclusion or a related field
  • Excellent strategic thinking and superlative verbal and written communication skills, along with fluency and confidence in inspiring team members and clients
  • Exceptional people skills to understand, connect and persuade
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and project design to solve problems on your own or by developing and empowering junior team members, including proposal development, budgeting, resource management and talent management
  • The demonstrated ability to work flexibly and efficiently, exercising a balance between research rigor and nimble project management
  • The ability to meet the demands of multiple clients simultaneously, balancing high-quality outputs with client needs
  • A high comfort level in working within a self-directed culture and navigating ambiguity
  • A proven appetite for experimentation (While you have facility in a range of research methods, you are inventive and you value great inspiration over dogmatic adherence to process.)
  • A Master’s degree or similar qualification in economics, law, policy, development or related areas
