Cenfri participates in the 13th International Microinsurance Conference

Does microinsurance matter for development? Can insurance strengthen resilience and improve value chains? Is the latest wave of innovation in microinsurance meeting consumer needs? Can tech, data and analytics shape the future of microinsurance? Is there life after mobile? Can index insurance be scaled up?

 

These are only a few of the questions that will be discussed at the 13th International Microinsurance Conference that will take place in Lima, Peru from 7 to 9 November. The Conference is hosted by the APESEG, Munich Re Foundation and the Microinsurance Network. It brings together around 400 insurers, intermediaries and regulators from over 50 countries to discuss various challenges and opportunities for the provision of insurance in developing markets.

Cenfri will be attending the conferencing and participating in the following sessions:  

  • Doubell Chamberlain (Cenfri managing director, member of the board and current chair of the Microinsurance network) will participate in both the opening and closing ceremonies of the conference. During this time, he will give an update on what has been in microinsurance over the past year and what to look out for over the next year. He will also facilitate a panel on the landscape of microinsurance in the Latin America and the Caribbean region. The panel will mark the launch of the results of a study on the topic by the MIN. Lastly, he will be moderate a discussion a discussion on the role of the actuary in microinsurance on a panel hosted by the International Actuarial Association.  
  • MiaThom (Cenfri Technical Director, insurance theme lead) will present the results of our InsurTech scan of emerging markets with FSDA Africa in a panel focused on the role of data and technology in empowering consumers.
