Jaco is a research associate at Cenfri and has been part of the team since November 2014. Since joining the team, Jaco has been involved in several projects in Mozambique and South Africa. Jaco has been part of the team conducing MAP diagnostics in Mozambique, Madagascar and DRC, responsible for FinScope data analysis, and segmentation to identifying potential target groups for financial services providers in the country. In addition, he has supported the SADC microinsurance harmonisation process and contributed to guidance briefs aimed at making insurance viable for orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV.

 

Prior to joining Cenfri, Jaco was a lecturer at the University of Pretoria. During his time in Pretoria, Jaco was also responsible for the econometric modelling components of several independent international trade related projects for the Department of Trade and Industry as well as the Department of International Relations and Cooperation.

 

Jaco holds a master's in econometrics (cum laude) from the University of Pretoria, an honours in econometrics from the University of Pretoria and a bachelor in economics from the University of South Africa. He is fluent in German and French.
