Wicus is a senior researcher at Cenfri and has been part of the team since January 2015. Since joining Cenfri, Wicus has assisted with a project assessing the corporate governance of a development programme in Pakistan, he reviewed a study evaluating the value of microinsurance, as well as working on MAP projects in Malawi, Zambia and the DRC. Prior to joining Cenfri, Wicus worked as a freelance researcher for the University of Stellenbosch in 2014, where he conducted research on female fertility and labour force participation in sub-Saharan Africa. Together with another consultant, he also estimated a consumer demand system for the National Treasury of South Africa. In 2013, he was part of a team which researched education and poverty in SSA for UNICEF.

 

Wicus holds a master's degree in economics (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch and an honours degree in economics (cum laude) from the University of Stellenbosch. During his studies, he also spent a semester at the University of Zurich studying computational economics and econometrics.
