Role summary

We are looking for curious, purpose-driven and self-motivated individuals to join our team as a Data Analyst. In this role you will form part of the Data Analytics team which is primarily responsible for the implementation of the data-for-decision-making programme with the Government of Rwanda. You will be contributing positively to development outcomes by informing public and private decisions with the use of data. You will also have significant opportunities to grow your own capabilities towards the next phases of your career with our team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with partner institutions to develop analytical plans to deliver on project objectives.
  • Conduct descriptive analysis and predictive analytics on big data sets.
  • Do rigorous economic research across a range of projects to develop credible, meaningful insights.
  • Review public policy documents.
  • Generate policy or business insights from data analyses.
  • Conduct data landscaping activities at government entities to gain insight into the data collected and potential analytical applications for the data.
  • Assess data quality and provide guidance on methods or techniques to improve data quality.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders on their analytical priorities.
  • Develop effective written documents and presentations that communicates insights identified.
  • Contribute to proposals.

 

Requirements

  • Post graduate degree in either Data Science, Economics, Public Policy, Development Finance.
  • 1-2 years of research experience would be to your advantage.
  • A strong interest in research-related activities and passion for achieving positive impact in the world.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
  • The willingness and ability to travel within South Africa and abroad.
  • Basic proficiency in R or Python, or any other scripting/programming language will be an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS-Office suite.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid understanding of statistics.
  • A creative and enthusiastic attitude to unearthing valuable insights to solve economic problems.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities.

 

Location

Cenfri is based in Cape Town, South Africa, with an office in Kigali, Rwanda. This role will be based in our Cape Town office.
