16 December, 2024 •Cenfri, a development consultancy with offices in Cape Town and Kigali, has an opportunity available for an HR Assistant. This is a fixed-term, full-time role (with a contract period until 30 April 2027).

About the role
Cenfri seeks a growth-oriented HR Assistant to support the HR manager on various human resource activities. This role includes exposure to the full HR portfolio within a flexible and supportive environment where your individual contribution is valued. As a key member of our Operations team, the successful candidate will engage with all levels of staff, will support the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, performance, development and retention, specifically owning HR administration and documentation. Due to the growing needs of the business, there is opportunity to get involved in some of our key HR projects in our South Africa and Kigali offices.
The Human Resource Assistant would be expected to:
- Coordinate the recruitment and selection process
- Preparing job adverts and uploading them onto the recruitment platform and website
- Shortlisting candidates in accordance with the job description
- Assisting in ensuring that each recruitment campaign has a clear and accurate project plan
- Managing candidate communication, including qualifying calls, arranging telephonic interviews and assessments, feedback to candidates and related communication to recruitment agencies
- Preparing all recruitment and selection-related documentation
- Participating in candidate interviews
- Assisting with conducting reference and background checks
- Assisting with management of on-boarding and off-boarding processes, including induction schedules and exit interviews
- Employee documentation
- Preparing all offer letters and contracts
- Preparing all employee change letters (subcontractor agreements, promotions. etc.)
- Creating and maintaining employee folders and information on the HR platform
- Supporting employee visa applications
- Intern programme support
- Coordinating the Cenfri SA internship programme, including onboarding, feedback and monthly check-ins
- Monitoring timeous feedback of contract renewals
- Supporting the recruitment, communication and monitoring of the Rwanda fellowship and academic internship programme
- Support the coordination of the performance management process
- Ensuring that performance review templates are maintained
- Supporting the planning of annual review cycles and supporting documentation
- Requesting, gathering, collating and sharing of review feedback and ensuring that accurate records of review meetings are accurately stored
- Learning and Development
- Assisting with the implementation of the Cenfri Learning & Development calendar
- Assisting with the preparation and documentation for WSP/ATR reporting
- HR reporting and maintenance of employee information
- Monthly updating of HR database and BambooHR platform
- Weekly leave reporting and maintenance of accurate leave records
- Preparing all employee documentation for monthly payroll processing and reporting
- Assistance in ad hoc HR support tasks, IR related issues, queries and projects
Applicants should have:
- A relevant tertiary HR qualification
- 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Sound knowledge of HR legislation and related principles
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to manage equally important priorities and to make the required trade-offs
- Keen interest in service delivery and client-centricity
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team, to meet tight deadlines and to work effectively under pressure
- Good proficiency in MS Office applications
Location
Cenfri is based in Cape Town, South Africa, with an office in Kigali, Rwanda. This role will be based in the Cape Town office with the successful candidate expected to come into the office at least 2 times a week.
Preference will be given to candidates currently residing in Cape Town and Employment Equity candidates.
