Technical Director, Barry Cooper, will be participating in the Global Forum on Illicit Financial Flows and Sustainable Development on 2 September.
The virtual event will be hosted by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cooperation with Deutsche Gasellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The forum brings together stakeholders across the international development landscape to discuss innovative national approaches at a regional level and fosters peer-to-peer learning between countries and regions. It feeds national and regional experiences into the international debate on combatting illicit financial flows in developing countries.
Barry will be sharing Cenfri and FSD Africa’s latest research on de-risking, illicit financial flows and regional economic hubs. This work explores the concept of de-risking, how it affects inclusive economic development and how strengthening financial integrity in regional economic hubs can potentially stop de-risking and enhance the flow of capital into developing regions.
