Kirsten Ellis


Kirsten joined Cenfri as a Data Analyst in August 2025, where she works collaboratively across the research and data teams. After returning to South Africa from the United States in 2024, she completed her Master’s degree in Economics at the University of Cape Town. Her dissertation examined labour dynamics and the policy implications of South Africa’s National Minimum Wage Act.

Kirsten specialises in data modelling and insight analytics. Her previous experience includes roles as a Management Consultant at Accenture, an Economic Associate at Regional Economic Models Inc., and even a primary school Drama Teacher. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Virginia Tech in the United States and is passionate about developing data-driven solutions that support economists and policymakers globally.

Outside of work, Kirsten enjoys exploring all that Cape Town has to offer, including hiking, surfing, and listening to live music and DJs. She spends most of her free time either at the gym, with friends, or at the thrift store.

Qualifications:
  • Master of Commerce in Economics, University of Cape Town
  • Bachelor of Arts in Economics, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech)
