Shungu Chirunda


Shungu is a former Chair of Cenfri’s Board and former Chair of the Board’s Governance Sub-Committee. She is the founder of SenseSana an intergenerational, and multi-disciplinary practice that offers human-centered interventions for individuals and organisations navigating change. She is an Executive & Leadership Coach accredited as a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation. 

A human rights lawyer by training, with over a decade of experience in corporate affairs, stakeholder engagement and executive leadership, Shungu is passionate about equality and empowerment.  

She serves on the boards of entities that are determined to make a difference in the world by finding innovative ways to overcome challenges that frustrate the advancement of individuals and societies. She is currently the Chair of the Board of the African Crowdfunding Association and serves as a board member of Katswe Sistahood, a Zimbabwean NGO purposed for the protection of the rights of girls and young women. 

Having begun her career in the field of international law and worked internationally for organisations such as the American Civil Liberties Union in New York and the African Union in Addis Ababa, she later became the Chief Regulatory Officer of Zoona. She has also previously held various senior roles at British American Tobacco and Ernst and Young. 

Shungu served on our board from February 2017 until January 2023.

Qualifications
  • Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Human Rights Law, University of London (SOAS)
  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) (Honours) degree, London South Bank University
  • Completed the FinTech: Future Commerce Programme, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
