Training: Foundation of Data-Driven Analysis for Policy Decisions

15 September, 2022

Cenfri is supporting staff from public institutions in Rwanda with tailored training to boost their capabilities in data analysis and is training policymakers in interpreting and applying data for policy. This training and capacity-building is a core objective of the Rwanda Economy Digitalisation Programme, which Cenfri is implementing in partnership with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation and the Mastercard Foundation. The programme encourages the public and private sector to use data to make decisions around sustainable digitalisation and strategic actions.

In partnership with the Rwanda Institute of Management and 71point4, we have already successfully conducted three courses with participants from key institutions such as MINICT, RURA, BNR, BKTechouse, MINAGRI, RISA, MINECOFIN, MINICOM, NIDA, MIFOTRA, RAB and NAEB.

The Foundation of Data-Driven Analysis for Policy Decisions equips individuals with some of the necessary knowledge, skills and practices required to perform basic data tasks.

Participants are exposed to basic principles of system administration, database design and statistical programming. The course runs over five days and is taught in an interactive lecture style, with practical activities for the participants.

Modules

  • Day 1: Linux Environment
  • Day 2: Databases
  • Day 3: Policy Analysis
