Ashly is a legal and policy specialist with a strong track record in financial sector regulation, policy development, and conduct supervision. She has held senior roles across government, regulatory agencies, and consulting, bringing deep experience in designing, implementing, and analysing regulatory frameworks at both domestic and international levels.
Ashly’s expertise spans financial sector policy development, regulatory reform, and governance, with a particular focus on innovation, conduct, risk culture, and supervisory approaches. At the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), she has most recently worked in frontline supervision, leading supervisory engagement with major institutions on issues related to governance, non-financial risk, and cultural drivers of misconduct. Previously she worked on regulatory strategy, international strategy, and financial sector policy development.
Her earlier career at Australia’s Federal Treasury included work on international tax and financial system policy, as well as serving in the Treasury’s Beijing office and in an advisory role to the then Deputy Prime Minister and Treasurer. Ashly also contributed to regional financial integration and services trade policy as a research coordinator with the Trade Law Centre (tralac) in South Africa, under the Australian Volunteer Program.
She brings a systems-level perspective to financial regulation, shaped by experience across policy development, supervision, and cross-border regulation.
