Before joining Cenfri in January 2022 as a Research Analyst, Sophie worked part-time as a research consultant at UCT’s Bertha Centre, where she was involved in researching and developing innovative finance models in the green SMME economy. She also has experience as an intern in a monitoring and evaluation company and in the impact investing space. While working part-time, she focused on her Masters degree in Applied Economics at the University of Cape Town. Her research to date has looked at the effects of access to basic services on human welfare. Sophie’s academic interests include using data and empirical evidence to understand development in a holistic way in order to inform policy decisions. If not at her desk, she will be reading a book, painting or cooking.
